Welcome New Subscribers!

I’m glad you’ve all signed up for this crazy ride and have decided you want to give my stories a try.

If djinns, ghosts, succubi or other mythological beings that go bump in the night are your jam, then you've come to the right place! If supernatural stories about psychics, reincarnation, time travel and wiccans arouse your curiosity (among other things 😉) then you’ve come to the right place.

Did I also mention spicy, sensual, erotic romance? Well, those are in my catalogue too. Just know, though my stories can be dark, and I take my characters through various trials and tribulations, they all get an HEA at the end. Always. Unless it’s my horror stories. For those, enter at your own risk 😂

The stories you will find in my catalogue include all of the above paranormal elements and beings and more. The characters are everyday people just like you and me, trying to survive and find love in a crazy mixed-up world. Okay, most of them might have a few gifts here and there that the rest of us don't, but otherwise, they are just like you and me, just a little larger than life😃

I believe I have a little something that all romance readers can appreciate. So sit back, enjoy the trip and stay abreast of what’s coming next!

============================================================
Hope everyone is doing well since my last full newsletter, and for those who celebrate, hope you enjoyed a happy, healthy, and safe Fourth of July!
If you’ve been following any of the news at Author’s Den, by now you probably know my first public event, a festival where I had planned to sell and sign my books (FLAMES PAST and DESERT DREAMS) fell through. After weeks and months of fretting (whether the books would come on time, whether the bags would come on time, whether I’d have enough promotional items to fill the table), Mother Nature pulled a cruel trick on me and rained us out. More a lightning-ed us out, as the event was rain or shine, but since there was danger of strikes (not a good combo with the surrounding trees and metal-posted tents) the event was cancelled an hour before the festival’s official start. Bummer.

On a brighter note, I finally gave in to the My Space craze and put up a site there. If you have a chance, check me out at http://www.myspace.com/graciecmckeever and tell me what you think. Had a lot of fun setting things up and learning how to put up different backgrounds and other bells and whistles. And I even have some friends (Stephen King among them, can you believe it!?!). Have a few blog entries too, nothing to write home about, but it’s coming along. Actually, I probably have more blog entries at my publisher’s blog (http://sirenauthors.blogspot.com) than my own. So if you get a chance, check it out at My Space http://blog.myspace.com/graciecmckeever Subscribe (I guarantee you won’t be bombarded ;p) Oh, and if you’re on My Space, add me! I’d love to have you as a friend!

Busy movie period for me past three months (squeezed in with all the other typical summer fare and my writing): Caught CARS (absolutely cute and entertaining. I think I liked it more than my young nephews and niece as usual); CLICK (my nephew Maxx had been begging to see this since it first came out and I finally caved. Glad I did. Loved it! LOL funny, tear-jerking and just all around entertaining. Maxx deemed it ‘the best movie ever!’); LITTLE MAN (typical Wayan Brother’s fare. Silly, funny and…dare I say it? Silly); Superman (loved it! Action packed, great effects, sweet romance, plus a neat twist and opening for future sequels); LADY IN THE WATER (I think M. Night missed the mark with this one, although I liked it better than THE VILLAGE, which I really didn’t like at all, still not his best work. No real thrills, no gasp-worthy twist. Speaking strictly from a writer’s point of view, I did like the multi-dimensional aspect of Giamanti’s character and the dynamics of the apartment building’s occupants, but other than this, the ending left me wanting and wondering where was the payoff for all my patience and waiting—or wading, if you prefer—through the muck. My sister went to sleep on it.); MY SUPER EX-GIRLFRIEND (Uma Thurma is one of my favorite actresses, and this movie showcased her wry sense of humor perfectly. Great fun); MIAMI VICE (I was a fan of the 80’s TV show. And one of my favoritist actors—Colin Farrell—is in the movie. How could I not go? Was it worth it? Great action, though the fast-pace and dialogue made things hard to follow sometimes. Something I’ll probably have to see again—like HEAT—to fully appreciate all the subtle nuances); THE ANTHILL BULLY (excellent! Loved this one a lot more than I thought I would. Great story about teamwork and friendship, great animation, great characters); STEP UP (went into this expecting something along the lines of SAVE THE LAST DANCE and TAKE THE LEAD) and was not disappointed! I loved it. Could have had more dancing, but the sequences that were included were very enjoyable. The story-line was predictable, but the acting was functional (and I absolutely love the male lead’s—Channing Tatum’s—moves and looks. Had been sweating him since his appearance in COACH CARTER. Hopefully some more Hollywood directors and producers are sweating him too so I can see some more of him!

Caught some more DVD’s, among them CREEP…totally gross and incomprehensible horror movie set in the tubes of England. But it did keep me on the edge of my seat. CHAOS (not to be confused with HAVOC, which I did, thinking I had seen it already, and giving the CHAOS DVD back to my sister before borrowing it again. Incidentally, I did quench my Channing thirst with a little view of him in HAVOC. Very small part, not enough screen time, but I digress…). CHAOS had some of my favorite B-actors in it (I love Jason Statham’s gravelly voice!) and was a pretty good time-passer, with action and suspense until the very end. INSIDE MAN (solid Spike Lee effort, and Denzel did his thing as usual. Not quite the explosive twist ending I was expecting, but effective).

Until next time, Roper and Ebert out ...

Author Day at CataNetwork was nice. Same deal as before, just not as well attended as my first one at Loves Romance Book Cafe (probably everyone was at the beach…it was Memorial Day weekend after all). If you didn’t make the chat live you can still catch it (and the excerpts) at the yahoogroups site in the archives/message section. I highly recommend joining the café if you want to meet and chat with romance authors, find out about their current and upcoming titles and just generally add to your tbb lists and tbr piles: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CataNetwork-Readers/

BENEATH THE SURFACE: THE MATCHMAKER 1 is experiencing a pretty successful run as one of Siren’s Top Sellers for July 2006 and August 2006, and has seen release in print last month. To get your trade paperback check out Siren Publisher, or you can purchase it directly from Amazon here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1933563184/102-5235251-9271348?n=283155

GUARDIAN SEDUCTRESS: SISTERS OF EMSHARRA 1 isn’t doing too shabby in its first few months of release either. And dare I mention that SPELLS CAST IN SHADOWS came in a Top Seller at Siren too, placing #3 its first week on sale at the site.

I’m crossing my fingers that the trend continues…
Had a hard time editing PREDATOR’S SALVATION (had to change the hero’s name, among other revisions), but it’s finally ready now and is scheduled for release next month.

For current release dates of my upcoming Siren Books, see listings in the newsletter below.
Last but not least, I finally got that fourth tattoo…You can read all about it on my blog (not that there’s that much to tell except…it hurt, and this is IT…but I love it!)

Hope you enjoy this issue of Gracie’s Gazette!

WHAT I'M READING/RECOMMENDED READS: Been catching up on books from my tbr piles. Not as much as I’d like, but I’m starting.

CRUEL TO BE KIND by Stephanie Vaughan: Twenty-five-year-old Megan has given up on finding the man of her dreams, believing her perfect mate doesn’t exist. This is before Steve walks into the bar and restaurant where Megan is working on her sister’s catering business’s books. Tall, handsome and with red-gold hair that she has only imagined, Steve is everything that Megan has ever dreamed of. She senses in him the one element that has escaped her in all her other relationships: a man willing to give up control in the bedroom. Picked this one up at Loose Id and boy am I glad I bought it. One of my favorite theme (bdsm with male sub…yummy). Lived up to all of my expectations and then some…only thing…it was much too short ;p Great h/h chemistry, hot and intense love scenes and cute ending. If you’re into this genre, then check this one out at http://www.loos-id.net I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

DARK SIDE OF THE MOON by Sherrilyn Kenyon: This latest Dark Hunter™ book delivered the usual action packed murder and mayhem featuring the same lovable favorites (Ash is back, but Simi is only mentioned in passing) and a new hero/heroine in Susan our intrepid and charming reporter and Raven our lovelorn and tortured hero. I enjoyed this one, but was a little disappointed with the ending that left me hanging out there a lot more than any of the rest of the DH books ever have. Now I’m really on pins and needles looking forward to the next one.

FORGOTTEN SONG, by Ally Blue: M/M erotic romance. When sensitive and kind musician Ben meets and “rescues” salty and emotionally troubled Eric in an alley, the sparks fly and never stop. Solid story, engaging characters, exciting climax and neat ending makes this worth a read. Word of warning (besides the m/m theme), it’s written in first-person. I don’t know about you, but I’m not particular about first-person stories, though I try to give them a chance whenever possible and depending on the circumstances (author, storyline, etc). I try not to pigeonhole and deprive myself of an otherwise good read. Hope you don’t either. This one’s also available from http://www.loos-id.net

THE BUCKHORN BROTHERS Series, by Lori Foster: Went back to my roots as it were, and got back into some regular category romance (no erotica, no paranormal, just good old fashioned love and marriage and a baby carriage ). This series follows the stories of Sawyer, Morgan, Gabe and Jordan, the sexy brothers of Buckhorn, Kentucky. I’ve got Casey (Sawyer’s son) at the top of my tbr pile and am currently reading THE WINSTON BROTHERS Series by same author and single title JUDE’S LAW, which was pretty fast paced with excellent h/h chemistry and dialogue driven, so I Ioved it for the most part. The ending seemed a little incomplete, which could mean there’s a spin-off or series due for this one too…

THE TIN STAR, by J.L. Langley: Ethan Whitehall is the hot and sexy owner of the Tin Star ranch who grew up best friends with John Killean and John’s younger sister and brother—Jules and Jamie—from the Quad J. When Jacob Killean disowns and throws out his youngest son Jamie after Jamie comes out, Ethan gives him a place to stay and work at the Tin Star. Jamie has had a gigantic crush on Ethan since as far back as he can remember, but not until he takes up residence at the Tin Star and discovers Ethan is gay does he decide to act on his desires. The humor and dialogue is realistic and sassy as are the characters. Both Ethan and Jamie are engaging and multi-dimensional and make up one dynamic, romantic and sexy pair of lovers. The story is of course controversial and provocative, with a fast-paced, winning plot and evocative subplot and characters. Well-written and absorbing, this book gets a Gold Star of approval from me! Check this one out at…you guessed it http://www.loos-id.net

REVIEW EXCERPTS FOR BENEATH THE SURFACE!
“...BENEATH THE SURFACE is the first book in the MATCHMAKER series and a wonderful beginning. Tabitha is a great heroine with plenty of backbone to stand up to whom and whatever. This makes reading about her a pure joy. EJ is not your typical author and it doesn’t take much to transform him into incredibly sexy and totally hot. This couple has a fiery relationship both in and out of the bedroom and readers won’t be able to get through the pages fast enough. The love scenes are full of desire and fraught with sensuality. Gracie McKeever has penned a book that will have readers desperately seeking the next volumes in the series.” Angel for Romance Junkies, 4.5 Ribbons http://www.romancejunkies.com/artman/publish/article_5801.shtml

“...Gracie C. McKeever has compiled one wonderfully enjoyable read full of rich, full characters. This story will make you laugh, shed a few tears and make you wish the next tale was available. The witty banter and complex characters make Beneath The Surface an engrossing read. Gracie C. McKeever has a new fan in this reviewer and I eagerly await her next tale.” Noemi, for A Romance Review, 4.5 Roses http://www.aromancereview.com/reviews/index.php?app_state=show_event&bookid=8625

"EJ and Tabitha are a wonderful couple, and throughout the book, I enjoyed the interaction between them, especially how their past makes them closer. Stubborn isn't strong enough to describe these two, but their resistance to taking a chance at love never gets to the irritating stage. Their chemistry is excellent and the desire they feel never fades as the super hot sex gets better with each encounter. Definitely have a significant other available when this book is done. The interaction with the sisters was good and brought a break from the intensity of EJ and Tabitha's developing relationship...The paranormal link is very well-done, and was not only a selling part of the book but completely plausible. Beneath the Surface is a entertaining book and I look forward to reading the rest of the Vega siblings' stories when they come out. 4 Stars/Orgasmic" —Anya Khan, Just Erotic Romance Reviews http://www.justeroticromancereviews.com

“...I really enjoyed this story. Gracie has a very nice voice and a terrific sense of pacing and story momentum. I loved the prickliness and baggage of both the main characters and the way the struggled against each other and against their own baggage. Eric’s sense of responsibility and purpose made him instantly likeable. Tabitha’s complex character and the way she strives for logic and reason in emotions and things inherently irrational made her a heroine to eagerly follow and root for.

One of the most interesting things about this book was that, unlike many paranormals, it was more contemporary than paranormal. The characters live in the real world and their issues and growth is easy to comprehend and sympathize with. The paranormal aspect of this story was masterful. It didn’t beat me over the head and it didn’t hide in the background until the very last moment.

This is the first book I’ve read by Gracie McKeever but it won’t be the last.” Maura Anderson, for The Romance Studio, 4 Hearts. http://www.theromancestudio.com

REVIEW EXCERPTS FOR GUARDIAN SEDUCTRESS!
“...I was surprised at how much I enjoyed SISTER OF EMSHARRA 1: GUARDIAN SEDUCTRESS. It was loaded with action, titillating sexual encounters, and most of all a good romantic plot line. No matter what was happening around Alex and Genesis, they never stopped eyeing each other as if they were a double scoop of Moose Tracks ice cream. I really enjoyed seeing their attraction come to life. Admittedly, their sex life was rushed and lacked great detailed, but the potential was there. I believe I noticed their lack of bed play because the characters were in lust with each other from page one. Despite the lack of intercourse, I really liked the characters and the story. Both Alex and Genesis seemed so lonely that I could not help but hope they would find something in the other that could cure their solitary existence. In one way or another they were always on the outside looking in, that was what made them perfect for each other. I was hooked on these characters and the world they lived in. This was my first time reading Gracie C. McKeever and I'm betting it will not be the last time. I found SISTERS OF EMSHARRA 1: GUARDIAN SEDUCTRESS thoroughly enjoyable.” Suni Farrar, Just Erotic Romance Reviews 4.5 Stars http://www.justeroticromancereviews.com

“...What would a world look like in which human were the prey and two races fought over how to properly conserve or use this prey? Step inside Gracie C. McKeever’s fabulous GUARDIAN SEDUCTRESS: SISTERS OF EMSHARRA BOOK 1 to get a taste...

...Gracie C. McKeever does a wonderful job of explaining the intricate details of the world of the Inanna and Sebitu. Explanations for concepts such as kundalini, the life force necessary for survival, are all provided in the context of the story as well as in a very useful glossary at the end. The idea of the conservation of humans was an interesting twist and one this reviewer had never seen before. Kalika had high hopes for Alex as she envisioned him as solving both the problem of a shrinking food supply as well as ending the war on the borders between the Inanna and the Sebitu.

Readers of urban fantasy and erotica would do well to take a peek at GUARDIAN SEDUCTRESS: SISTERS OF EMSHARRA BOOK 1. The story is both highly enjoyable as well as thought provoking. Gracie C. McKeever is obviously a gifted writer and it is well worth adventuring into her fantasy realm to explore the world of the Sisters of Emsharra.” Reviewed by Anne for Kwips and Kritiques, 4.5 Klovers, http://www.ck2skwipsandkritiques.com/guardianseductress_anne.html

“...Guardian is a chill-tingling fantastic read. Genesis has strong characteristics throughout as she keeps Alex in her care at all costs, and Alex is interesting as he tries to come to terms with the crisis landed in his lap. Ms. McKeever pens a fabulous tale. When Alex was confronted with the woman with hazel eyes, I think I was just as frightened as he was. I kept looking for claw like fingers to jump from the pages. Ms. McKeever fashions a gripping story that this reader enjoyed very much and look for the others in the series.” Cherokee, for Coffee Time Romance, 4 Cups

“...GUARDIAN SEDUCTRESS is a shape-shifting, paranormal, fantasy thrill ride that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. Genesis is different in so many ways and all the things she can do will shock and amaze you. She is attracted to Alex and tries to fight it, but as usual that never lasts long. Alex can't believe what Genesis tells him and thinks she's nuts, until he experiences first hand just what she can do. He has no clue about his past or what happened with his mother and Genesis is there to make sure he finds out. I have read several books by Gracie McKeever and each one has its own appeal. Her writing is creative and readers will love her flair for intrigue.” Angel, Romance Junkies, 4 Blue Ribbons

REVIEW EXCERPT(S) FOR SPELLS CAST IN SHADOWS!

I’m particularly liking this first review for SCIS since the reviewer got the book and even mentions wanting to see more of Montana’s cow boss and friend, Jason Makepeace, which as YOU all know I am diligently working on now as we speak. I’d like nothing better than to please Ginger’s imagination. I must say, she has planted the seeds for a book with Endre (maybe another cross-over book?). I don’t know, since Endre never cried out to me demanding his own story the way Jason did. We’ll see:

“...SPELLS CAST IN SHADOWS is a well written book with captivating characters. This book includes the use of dark magic to manipulate lives, murder, intrigue and an amazing love story within a love story. The hero and heroine face many obstacles in discovering their love for one another. There are several plot lines developed within the story, some of which could have been expanded to add even more depth to this book. I hope Ms. McKeever will pick up the threads to tell the stories of Montana’s friend, Jason’s and that of Seth’s brother Endre to make this a series. The possibilities make my imagination soar! Seth and Montana struggle mightily to resist the lure of each other. Their resistance raises the heat level at every encounter until they surrender to the needs of their bodies, even if not acknowledging the desires of their hearts. Seeking to please themselves and each other physically, they please this reader with the passion they ignite. This book is one I’ll read again and again.” Ginger Boucher, Just Erotic Romance Reviews, 4 Stars/Hot http://www.justeroticromancereviews.com

HEATEWAVE ROMANCE CLOSES:

Well, put this under the isn’t-it-ironic category. A few days after I sent out my last newsletter including a plug for Awe-Struck’s erotic subsidy Heatwave, I received information that Awe-Struck was shutting Heatwave Romance’s doors and discontinuing the line. As of this writing, the site is closed down. Such is the publishing business…or just business in general.

NEW AND USED BOOKS CLOSING ITS DOORS!

I hope this isn’t an epidemic...
