Big Changes -by- Sherry Gibson

Last week I discussed how the choices we make each day affect the course of our life. I am very pleased with the many responses I received from the readers on this subject. I want to thank each of you who responded to the article and for your input on the subject. You had some very good ideas to share with me. I wanted to share your ideas in this newsletter, but my computer crashed last Sunday and I had to reboot it from the start-up disk. Everything was lost and I apologize for not saving all your comments to a CD for protection. I made the choice to put off copying important documents and work to disk and now I suffer the consequences. I think I will pour myself another cup of coffee and start writing those poems and short stories again before they are lost forever, not just from the computer, but from my mind as well.

Each week I encourage our readers to submit their poems or articles to us. This week, I have chosen a poem submitted by my assistant editor, Sharon Sanders. Sharon lives in Louisiana with her husband and one very big dog, appropriately named Bear! Sharon is living with Lupus but she is an inspiration to anyone living with a chronic illness. She keeps a positive outlook on life and spends time each day reaching out to help others suffering with autoimmune problems. “A Christmas Gift From God”


The best Christmas gift ever would be
A special knock at the door on Christmas Eve,
As I open the door, I have to look twice,
I stand in awe, rubbing my eyes.
For there stood my mom…how can this be?
“Merry Christmas” she says…God heard your plea.
I’m your gift tonight…He allowed this to be.
He knows what is in your heart,
He knows how much you miss me.
“Oh mom, can you stay with me…somehow”?
No honey, for Heaven is my Home now.
Our visit tonight is Gods special gift to you,
He’s calling me now…so I must go.
But do not cry and don’t be sad;
Let’s be thankful for this moment we had.
Then she was gone…but what’s this…a card?
Merry Christmas, Sharon.….From God.
