Making choices is not something I was introduced to at home. It took nearly 60 years to believe in my power to choose, to overcome fear.
Creating Choices She stands smiling at you Focusing on the things She has to do The subject - 'Power' Power to think Power to feel The power to speak The power to choose So much power - yet you are afraid Afraid to feel To speak, to think And to choose "Why is it so? you ask "Very simple" she says "You've been told Over and over again: "Don't even think such a thing! You mustn't say it like that! Why do you feel this way! Just do as you're told" So here you are - afraid! Where is your power? Where are your thoughts, emotions and choice? Gone is your self-esteem as well. Now, if you concentrate Listen to her, And if you wish You can choose to create Your positive self, and Follow your dream - Live your life to the full... ...If you will! ...the spectrum of emotions is trully amazing in your poem...very powerful and complex writing...the absence of freedom to choose doesn't change the way how one thinks...stuck in a victim-mentality's the trouble...there are benefits in being "small"...it serves and protects the "victim's mind"...filled with excuses but...it's damaging to a person to hold on it...yet so hard to break free...build the strength and act...take full responsibility for own life..."creating choices"...cogito ergo sum...move to positive and empowered head-space...even if one chooses not to choose...still have made a choice...take a pick!...Thank you Denise, for sharing your thought-provoking writing.

Shows the importance of good parenting. So many are overprotective and over controlling, thinking they are doing their children good, but all they are doing is creating a young person with the inability to make good choices based on experience.

Ahhh . . . We both posted poems concerning "choices," this morning although we had different thoughts on the subject. Still . . . That was our choice . . .
