This is actually the follow-up to a poem I had written about one of my lost loves (she was one of the subjects of "The Autumn Blues" which is also on Authorsden). One person who saw the other poem said that it didn't say much about the girl in question, so I wrote this one.This has been a favorite of many who have commented on my work.

I still see her

in the schoolyard,

running up the sidewalk

to the hopscotch squares.


I still see her

honey-brown hair bouncing

as she plays kickball on a warm fall day.


I still see her

feeding her rabbits

while letting them run

along the schoolhouse.


I still see her

quiet ways and eyes,

erect, proper,

but that sly little grin.


Lending her colored pencils

because somehow I always

seemed to forget mine.


I still see her

in my dreams.
