Lightning
Streaks of light in the midnight sky heralding the rain
That washes the land that later brings forth grain.
Streaks of light in the midnight sky heralding new birth
From long, dormant seeds resting cradled in the earth.
Streaks of light in the midnight sky heralding the storm
That breaks the heat from scorching down to warm.
Streaks of light in the midnight sky God’s showcase
Of his awesome power, love and grace.
