Dream
I dreamed a dream of a garden so beautiful and fair.
As I walked among the flowers, I saw my loved ones there.
My dear white haired grandmother who taught me Irish lullabies
Sat in the sunny arbor she was smiling at me with her eyes.
“My child, I’m so glad to see you, I’ve missed you oh so much.
Come, let me hold you, I’ve longed so long for your touch.
Then I saw my beloved father standing amid the trees
As I ran to hug him and kiss him, I could smell his scent on the breeze.
My body was that of an adult, but my heart was that of a child,
And as he held me close to him it beat fast and wild.
Then I saw the wondrous light emanating from beyond the wood
And as I looked into it, I knew that’s where my Savior stood.
Slowly I walked forward to see him was my goal
Each step I took added more reverence to my soul.
And I knew no fear of dread because his smile showed me
What his holy words had said that he had always loved me
Even before I drew my first breath
And that he had offered himself to save me from eternal death.
He opened his arms wide and beckoned me draw near,
And he whispered to me, “My child, I so glad you’re here.”
