Blood dripping down his holy face,
From the thorns upon his brow
They marched him through the streets
To his place of death undeserved
Nail driven hands to hold him
Upon that rough honed tree
They raised him high
For everyone to see
Six hours he hung upon the cross
Six hours of humiliation and pain
Yet never once, in all that time
Did Jesus complain
As the hours passed
He spoke to those below
Once to say, "I thirst"
But refused the vinegar and myrrh
Long hours passed before he spoke again
This time is was a desperate cry to God
"My God, My God why has thou forsaken me"
As he assumed the sins of men
To the heavenly Father above
In his final moments he spoke
Not to curse his killers
But to save them from their due
His words of love and forgiveness were
"Father, forgive them, they know not what they do"
With that final sentence
He gave up the ghost
To save all mankind
From eternal death
