Dark Angel's Son

He rode the shadows of the evening
Arriving after twilight had kissed the sun
Searching for release from his torment
His evening quest had now begun

Sad and weary, he began his journey
As each night he'd always done
A dark spark dwelt within him
For he was the son of "a fallen one"

Throughout the years he had wandered
His quest for freedom, denied
No maiden he'd found who could save him
No mate with whom he'd be sanctified

He yearned for a strong one, yet a kind one
A virginal, courageous and compassionate one
One in whose veins flowed the blood of saints
The tonic pure, needed to affect his freedom

'Twas All Hallows' night that he found her
A vessel of beauty overflowing with love
'Twas the prize that he'd been longing for
She had light's spark from heaven above

The pain in his heart was unbearable
His fear of rejection, oh so strong
Yet gallantly he knelt before her
And sang his passionate, heartfelt song

An aching proposal of splendid promise
A reverent plea for redemptive bliss
A pledge of love bestowed forever
Dare she snatch him from evil's fist?

The maiden, she did respond to him
His powerful presence, seductive indeed
Yes, she broke the curse that bound him
From the power of darkness, he was thus freed

A splendid write on the healing and redemptive powers of authentic love divine. The strong characterizations and well-defined contrasts in DARK ANGEL'S SON make these lines throb with drama and beauty.

Ah, a dark talle that has a happy ending. How about that? The mark of a true optimist. Good stuff.
