Both tainted and
blemished
do I stand stilted
as man
heart bowed
back stooped
from hardship of land
veneer nice and shiny
as I polish by night
yet day burst
doth illumine
what hides
deep inside
cicatrix formed
from day I did fall
both tumble and sail
in little leaf fashion
where I sit now not tall
but small
in crumpled heap
both of
body mind
and soul
cicatrix
unveiled
oh yes
all mine
untold
scented scars of battle
amany I do wear
as ornaments adorning
what once yes stood there
the mere heart of a bunny
turned savage by rage
the mere heart of a bunny
jaded
yes withered by age
cicatrix the hub
polestar now
and compass of being
for
my salute offered
in innocence
'twas received
neither heard
and returned
by none
but the ghosts
scarred in like form
who cry wail
in nights sun
no balm salve
nor ointment
yet discovered by search
to paint me in colors
most find endearing
at birth
though search I continue
both venture and quest
till I find the true
covering
to veil
the cicatrix
yes covering and concealing
whilst enveloping
my heart
I still lite the candle
in childlike whisper
and yawn
each day night
and all
yet the wind blowing
in misfortune
inhales and
yes
steals the flame
so faint
bright and small
yet I light it by day
and watch it each
night
awaiting my balm
yet lingering
upon night
i dont believe for a moment that you are withered with age.
but the joy of this piece the complete understanding of who you are and the enveloping of all the facets that have brought you to this point in your life are real and valid and brought out to the light. (could this be the wine talking-on my part, not yours)

A scar is a sign of healing, be well my friend and enjoy the blemishes for it is our imperfections that make us human. Mal.

"tainted and blemished".. suggests some of the 'scars' of life come from within and some from others'.. you are wonderful at making me think, then allowing me to rest when your approach becomes more gentle.. well done. katy.
What a poignant picture you have painted, Rodney. I love the way you used cicatrix. But I pray it isn't you whose unhappiness sighs in line after line. Whoever the poem speaks for, may the flame grow brighter, yet never burn. . .and last and last. Phyllis
My book of poetry is being redone by me, I have a beautiful cover designed and the book will have a few more than 200 poems in it. I am going to have it printed on demand here in Canada. When it is done I will let you know when it is done and if anyo
