Indian Girl With Tears

Tale, story wide told,
About a Mayan princess who stood as bold
Wrapped in beauty like sun in full array,
Brown earth skin cheeks like burnished bronze in ray
The wolves her escort each night to the woods

Where the princess would meet her lover in words
Yes words they would cast to the stars in the sky
Wishing that brightness would show him the way
His voice a real one, that howled hungry in the night
All the villagers feared him, his voice of night fright

Yet she met him as lover each day when lite fell
A voice in the woods was all others could tell
They say she'd return in lightning aglow
Like a goddess of lightning and princess of glow
Shed not speak for hours, or so I'm told

Whilst the glow did a linger on her face untold bold
Night came, wolves came, to escort her once more
Yet this night was be different, something else in store
The woods were alive in shadow dancing braves
Those fallen warriors, who walk in nights grave

Wind gust, quiet like, moved its face upon hers
Mayan princess standing holding no fear
Dust blew in colors, all magical and such
The princess not unfamiliar to the winds touch
But the voice of her lover was no longer there

Her name now, "Indian Girl with tears"never the same
Tears always upon her, cheeks know them well
The name now is imparted upon the sunsets of age
Timeless and wandering the voice of the sage
That whispered a lovesong, to Mayan princess young in age

They say years later, upon the same ground
A voice is heard whispering from sundown to dawn
Arising whenever one finally bows head
Be it foul feathered creature, or man instead
Her name is still heard whispering in flight, each night
