Could It Ever Be...?

It is a poem about love and loss.

You came into my life like a warm wind,
Showing me what I thought Love could be.
Lasting only as a gust which fades away,
You left me only leaving memories.
A freezing blustery breeze only remained.
Could you have ever loved me?
Could it be that you never wanted to leave?
Could it ever be...?

I turned to a history I never truly knew,
For composers of long ago were my warmth.
The sonatas of Beethoven were my Love,
Bringing the night back its humanity.
Comfort and happiness lasted only in music.
Could the dead composers have ever loved me?
Could they keep me happy forever?
Could it ever be...?

When music failed, I gazed upon the stars and moon,
Being accustomed to their comfort and everlasting beauty.
I knew the stars and moon could never fail me,
Even when the day and clouds hid them.
Many friends they were to keep me company on those nights.
Could my celestial bodies ever love me?
Could the stars and moon shine just for me?
Could it ever be...?

Now you are back like a warm wind,
But I fear the blustery breeze again.
Your handsome visage makes me long for you,
Yet I cannot believe or hope.
Not even the moon and stars keep me now.
Could you love me for once?
Could our happiness together ever be?
Could it ever be...?

No, Love could never be for me.

I can completely relate to the sentiments that you have expressed via your verses here, Cherie. The theme that you relate is one with which I have "danced" via many of my "poems" posted here at AD and elsewhere in lost pages etc... Thank you for sharing. Welcome to AD. Love and best wishes,

Regis
