"If you got the faith, God has the power." With this
declaration I present this faith-power case to the
highest court of appeal, to you:
Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding
for twelve years came up behind him and touched the
edge of his cloak. She said to herself "If I only touch
his cloak, I will be healed." Jesus turned and saw her.
He said, "Take heed daughter, your faith has healed
you." Matt. 9:20-22)
"When they saw him, they worshipped him; but some
doubted." Then Jesus came to them and said, "All
power in Heaven and on earth has been given to me."
Matt. 28.18
Your faith is yours;
All power is Jesus', the Christ of God.
Another way of stating this truth is: "If you have the
faith, God has the power." It cannot be otherwise.
Just as you cannot have power, God cannot have faith.
Faith is the essence of choice or visa versa. God created man as a choice-possessed being. Therefore, even God cannot deny man choice or faith which is a choice. As a matter of fact, faith is the ultimate choice. And as Paul Tillich asserts, "If faith claims ultimacy it demands the total fulfillment even if all other claims have to be subjected to it or rejected in its name."
So faith is "settled nature" or as setteled as nature in the very act of Creation. Faith is man's and man's alone prerogative.
What about power? "All power" belongs to God. It is His alone. Power is the ability to do or act; to effect change, to impact. Ultimately, power is the ability to create and sustain that which has been created. Only God has that power which is manifested in many ways, but most "assuredly and pronouncedly as revealed in His love. God loves powerfully. "Jesus reminds us of this fact in the saying, "Gerater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:13)
Just as faith cannot do it by itself, love cannot do it
by itself. It takes your faith and God' love to accomplish full life that humans were created to enjoy. In the vernacular of another tune, "It takes two to tango."
Here is the good news. Power is always available to positively respond to faith, just as Jesus did in response to the woman who said, "If I can but touch his cloak, I will be healed." He said to her, "Your faith has healed you." That says it all. Wow!
It would not be amiss or misleading for me to say, forget about the power." power is not in your charge.
Instead, have faith and seek to grow your faith. Heed Apostle Pauls's admonition and "walk by faith."
FAITH CAN DO IT
What experience, skill and perseverance cannot do,
faith can do it;
What wisdom, knowledge and understanding cannot do,
faith can do it:
What popularity, connection and privilege cannot do,
faith can do it;
What wealth, power and possessions cannot do,
faith can do it;
What love, hope and truth cannot do,
faith can do it;
Faith is the principal thing to be applied in achieving
that which appears to be impossible.
Nothing is more idiosyncratic and strictly personal
than a person's faith;
It's your faith;
Faith can do it.
"If you have the faith, God has the power."
