Lion’s teeth
That gripped a world
And pulled it from its feet.
Chewing, tearing
Flesh from bone
For no other reason
Than to appease
A hunger,
A thirst for blood.
No mercy shown,
Expecting none.
To now become
The prey,
Weak,
With only gums to bear.
No pride in this,
The ultimate despair.
An old man walks alone
Not so indifferent to his fate
As his mumbling shuffle
Would otherwise indicate.
