(Or – We Don’t Need No Stinking Captain!)

I am tied to deviation;
The mast,
A pendulum,
In this raging storm.
A shattered sextant,
Cast away,
Portent to the unraveling
Of this maniacal world.

Sharks feed
In these uncharted waters.
An obsidian surface beckons me.
Heartbreak waves
Break over an irrational silence.
Sometimes,
I stare blankly into these unfathomable seas.

The land of truth,
Lies just to the fore.
There, a rocky coast,
Rises defiantly,
Intent on splintering
This impressionable spirit,
This ever-drifting ship
Of narcissistic intentions.

I am tied to deviance,
Fated to go down
With this wreck,
Laid waste by a sociopathic self-indulgence.

I will claim that I signed on in ignorance,
But that’s not to say,
I was never warned.

There is more truth in this writing, especially that last paragraph, than I can wrap my mind around.

It is though I am sensing a captain Ahab, although I put down Moby Dick because I couldn't get through that first psychological chapter.

Knowing a bit of your history, I would say it was a battle with your health that is still raging to this day.

I've grown to appreciate psychological writing more. You have done an incredible job here.

You betcha. People were warned. I, in my inept way tried to warn. All warnings were dismissed as claptrap.
