I agree. Prohibition brought on an era of terrible violence and almost everyone in the United States breaking the law. The same is true for all the drugs. The most dangerous drug according to statistical death is alcohol. We need to stop spending billions making drug users criminals and imprisoning them. We need to focus on health and wellness… Especially mental health that leads to addiction.

I have mixed feelings about using drugs and marijuana. When I saw Timothy Leary being very lucid in a panel with another individual years after he started tripping on LSD, I was much impressed that his brain was still very much intact--he was brilliant in the discussion of the future.
I worked with several graduate students that smoked marijuana regularly. They all seemed very enthused and verbal about strange subjects they were interested in like subliminal advertising and ancient aliens. Invariably, I found their writing to be weak, repetitive and unresearched, not very sound or insightful. They never seemed to be able to get to the point. And they were working on their master degrees.
I'm with Jansen, The war on drugs is counter productive. Pot is the one drug that has never really hurt anyone, and yet it's treated like the demon seed. I feel it would be better to focus on education and treatment. The heroin epidemic says it all. We should be trying to take the criminal element out of drugs.
I have smoked a joint here and there, and if it was left up to me the weed would not even be talked about. I can count on both hands over my life span that I ever smoked up. All it ever did for me was make me hungry and sleepy.
