Here's the inferno nine circles of Hell
one for each tolling of for whom the bell
first step in the journey of soul to find God
only the comfort of staff and the rod
Sign on the door meant to fire up fear
give up all the love that you have and hold dear
the words are so simple, simple and clear
abandon all hope ye who must enter here
Before you can cross to the Acheron shore
behold all the souls who await at the door
who failed to decide between wrong and the right
and so are committed to endless the night
Pay up the ferryman coins on your eyes
if he won't take you say then this to him
"So it is wanted there where power lies"
and you’ll be admitted with or without sin
In the first circle the guiltless are damned
unbaptized unsaved unknown without hope
lost in the history of shifting sands
trapped in the limbo hung without a rope
Then Cleopatra and Helen of Troy
rule in the second the circle of lust
with all the fornicating girls and the boys
who never achieve the orgasm they must
Cerebus guards all the gluttons at third
addicts and morbid obesity bulge
and even the churchers who suck on the word
and the true believers who overindulge
“Why do you squander? Why do you hold?”
on the fourth level Pluto just sits there and laughs
at all of the greedy and their useless gold
and tears all their trillions of dollars in half
into a black sulkiness there is no joy
as the fifth level angriness sinks in the Styx
the Furies will toss you about like a toy
the angels will open up their bag of tricks
the heretics on the sixth level say not
that there is not a savior but there is not a God
they know that damnation is from prophecy told
while flames lick their tombs as the future unfolds
the seventh is violence simple and pure
the murderers drown in the hot boiling flood
the suicides suffer forever endure
the blasphemers writhe in a desert of blood
eight is the number of fraud and deceit
witches and sorcerers prophets so false
walking around with their hearts in their teeth
dancing forever the lucifer waltz
and for the last is the treacherous few
who fooled all the faithful and blinded as well
ending with us but starting with two
into coming to live in this pit we call Hell

Reviews of "THE INFERNO OF DANTE song lyrics by Joel Sattler"
I much prefer, “Ring of Fire,” over this as a song. However, as a review of Dante's strange, but believable for the Catholic faithful, tour of hell, this comes pretty close as far as I can tell having never read Dante at all.
Oh my, this took a lot of time and effort to write. Spec' to be so exact.
Dante was crazy, he put in hell, all those he didn't like. When his wife died, he buried his works with her. Upon reflection, he went, whooooops, and dug them out again. Though at-least he left us the beautiful language of Italy.
