the Satan and the Holy God
were talking one fine day
said God "among my servants there
are none more fortunate than Job"

said Satan "if you take away
the blessings you have laid
why then he'll turn his back on thee
and he'll forget to pray

"he'll curse the day that he was born
and all Your favors too
if Thou would make him so forlorn
he'd turn away from You"

said God "with thee I'll make a bet
all this I'll take from him
and he will still be in my debt
though he hath little sin"

Satan said okay
and on that awful day
behold there came a mighty wind
and all Job’s blessings took from him
it smote four faces of the house
and killed the doubters and devout
and Satan brought up foul disease
of boils to bring him to his knees
from the souls of his feet to the crown of his head
and all he ever loved was dead

Then Job in his deep dark despair
he rued the day that he was born
friends tried their best to comprehend
but both his head and heart were torn
But Job never gave up his God
although his future had been robbed
and when God saw Job not give in
He brought new blessings unto him

o Job you were an honest man
but God you'll never understand
for all your children and your wife
not worth the gift of your own life

can you e’er forgive your God
for the death of children, wife
is worth the sorrow and pity
of the mere gift of your own life?

or is the how invented God
because the pain too hard to bear
without a reason or a purpose
is this the why you put God there ?

but still sometimes in the dead of night
Job sits by the candlelight
and thinks of all the love he lost
his sons and daughters, such a cost

to find out of the truth of God
is so much more than thought it was
God can't be hidden behind locks
you can not put God in a box

so then this is the Book of Job
the Book of Job

this then is the Book of Job
to pay back more than ever owed

This then is the Book of Job
what you sow you can not keep, or
each seed you plant is your own soul
and God Himself is the Reaper
