SHOOTOUT AT THE GHOST TOWN song lyrics
by Joel Sattler

Val Henry was a wicked man
but no more wicked I
he came to town a wicked plan
across the plain did ride
across the plain did ride

Val Henry was a wicked man
across the plain did ride
he came to do the worst he can
a six gun by his side
a six gun by his side

he came for me or so he said
to do the worst he could
he came to shoot me dead as dead
but for the sake of good
for the sake of good

Val Henry was the Marshall of
a town I would not name
the sky was blue as blue above
his middle name was pain
his middle name was pain

everybody in the town
knew why he'd come for me
everybody in the town
took places for to see
took places for to see

he walked across the village square
and called my name out loud
but only silence met him there
despite the waiting crowd
despite the waiting crowd

I walked out in the sun and dust
and drew my weapon fast
I knew his cause was more than just
but he drew quick and last
but he drew quick and last

I lay there in the dirt and cried
he walked up to me slow
and then and there I should have died
fate did not want it so
fate did not want it so

the vision of evil got bigger and bigger
bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger
and then and then and then and then
and then I pulled the trigger

Val Henry tried to ride away
but he fell off his mount
and there his body lay all day
through nights beyond all count
through nights beyond all count

the town is bare and empty and
with none greet the dawn
the bones of Henry turned to sand
the people all have gone
the people all have gone

and I alone survived to tell thee
but I can not boast
beware of destiny befell me
I am but a ghost
I am but a ghost
I am but a ghost
I am but a ghost

I'd sure like to hear this one played. Has all the right stuff to fit into a Clint Eastwood classic movie.
