THE NECROPOLIS

I dreamed I walked necropolis
all day and all the night
past a million monuments
to dead both left and right

the sky was colored green green green
with envy colored green
the water in the Fountains red
red red red red red

I was singing to myself
why am I still I?
What about me is it?
Don't I deserve the lie?

The one thing I don't want to do
is make my ghosts alive
real people walking through my head
my brain the snake arrives

my dad looked up at me
from deep down in the pit
and said nothing nothing nothing
not a single word of it

the city of the stony end
the boneyard of the moon
and on each tomb a message writ
in indecipherable rune
