It seems that poems on poetry is the second largest segment of me corpus.

Herer is anther

I flick my rod
And the bait sails upstream
Pulling the six pound test from
The reel. The bait lands
In slack water
I let it sink.

Raising the rod tip
I twitch the hook into the Current.
the worm tumbles along the bottom.
As I take up the slack

I see the flash but
the fish misses the strike.
I reel up as the line passes…
Again I flick the rod. Again
the baited hook flies upstream.

It lands in the current.
For the first few feet of the run I’m
Catching up with the slack.
Lifting the bait I a. rewarded the.
The throb of a strong fish
a big creek chub not a trout.

I slip it back into the creek.

Sitting at my keyboard I cast my lure
allowing it to sink
deep into my psyche
reaching for a poem to write.

Down, down the lure sinks
seeking something to write
some great catch,
some giant work.

Patience
the fisherman is patient
t waiting for the strike.
Down drifts the lure

Deeper
through levels ever
more remote ever
more painful.

It is late – time to quit.
The strike is a surprise
Quite close to he surface.
It is a short poem

Significant but no Master work,
Never the less
I clean it
and polish it up.

There is no
catch and release
in this fishery.

I like how well the two go together...fishing for fish and fishing for words to put together. I can relate to both very well. I liked it.

Fishermen are patient people much like a poet who sends his hook down the stream of wisdom and wait the whole day for a nice catch.
Thanks

Fishing in the ocean for me is just like what you have captured herein, what with waiting for something to strike my line, then it runs, just like most of my own fleeting thoughts...now I am going to have to go out and do some fishing this weekend, you got me thinking about it...Ed

I used to tie flies by hand with my old man and this struck a very visual chord...I enjoyed this.

It's a bigon and reflects the light from those scales like the water refracts a thousand jewels. Thank you, John!

Brilliant, John; enjoyed this immensely! You've caught a whopper. And it's a good one, good one, indeed. Ain't throwin' this one back. Definately one to snack on. :)

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

THIS IS WELL EXPRESSED AND WRITTEN MY FELLOW POET. SOUNDS LIKE REAL FISHING AND REAL LIFE ITSELF.
