It’s the wind,

Can’t you hear it?

You’re lucky!

I hear it almost all the time, now,
blowing where it will:
Though none can see it. I can hear it

Feel it, too
it empties my mind and
makes a sail of my heart.

The wind blows and
everything not tied down
wants to move with it

I try to be content
with hearth and home
but the wind is blowing.

And no matter how I try,
how I pray
how I try to bind myself here
with pleasant duties,
and comforting routines

the wind is blowing
and some morning
will find me gone.

It’s the wind,
