two things can be said about the resurrection of jesus:
1- something happened
2- what ever happened
the women were the first to
be aware of it
the empty tomb
the marys were there
mary of magdala
and the other mary.
joanna, salome, and
some other women
the men were hiding
crucifixion had made
them witless. braggarts
and drunkards all, they
were looking to escape
back to galilee to their
boats and nets – once
their hangovers were
cured . . .
so it was the women
who found the empty
tomb. the men laughed...
“It is over, finished,”
“Let it go, girls”, “Get real”,
“He’s dead...” Peter
roared off, but then
he came back “The
tomb is empty” He said.
“I don’t understand”
The marys, and
joanna, and salome,
smiled, and said nothing

I too enjoyed this piece. I am a Parish Ministry Associate for the Nebraska Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in American. I get to preach when a pastor needs a fill-in, though I cannot do communion without special permission and of course, I can marry no one. That's fine. I'd rather not be blamed for the start of a horror story.
I really like the last line. The disciples spent three years with Jesus and even after the crucifiction and resurrection they still didn't really understand the scope of what he had done. The women knew but I do believe women are more intuitive. They understood Jesus/God's mission and responded to the men's disbelief in the age-old manner of all women, the "What can you expect. After all they are only men."

Wow! This would have held slightly less impact had it been written by a woman.. but impact it has! like a brilliant 'wake-up call'.. Your creative mind and perfect expression of an 'age-old' story is the very best I've read on this Easter day.. again, Wow! katy.
