Fifty Golden Years
~~~~~~*~~~~~~
Soon it will be
Our golden anniversary
Beautiful thoughts
Enter my mind
As we chose today
To work on our
lovely garden
The heat playing havoc
With my body and soul.
I sit for a break
To enjoy a swallow
Of ice cold water
As I play the love songs
Of ours father's era
Which we both enjoy.
While a favorite played
I slowly danced my way
Towards her
My only reason for living
kissing her softly
On the tenderness
Of her creamy nape.
Asking her
"May I have this dance"
With puckered lips
Waiting for a kiss and respond
Accepting my humble request
Two tired soul
Still in love After fifty years.
Tenderly embraced
Slowly dancing to the oldies
Of our fathers passionate era
whispering sighs
Of I love you to each other.
As I sang along
With a most beautiful Love Song
She uttered incoherently
"You're crazy" I agreed
Adding in love with you
Dancing till the song's end.
I'm coming up on 25 and those kisses are getting better. So, at 50 and still dancing in the garden, I expect they are better than that flash when you first saw her and had that first close dance to your fathers' music.
I love poetry that's written to the mood of the moment and describes a situation so well. Now you can try for 75.
Convincingly sensitive and completely real is this great poem of love and the expectant Golden Anniversary! Well done, both the poem and the fact that it said love forever is possible. I thoroughly enjoyed this.
