Prints in stone

Time preserves history
Leaving behind
Memories for us
To log into the archives
Of our most valued thoughts.

I've observed Prints
Of leaves etched
In stone
For all now to see.

Lining the modern roads.
We've paced from past
To their now future
Of their existence.

As those of dinosaurs
Or the initials
I carve upon
An old Oak tree
Of me and that beautiful
Woman that's still stands
By my side a half century later.
