Sleeping Princess

Waking, the aunt,
Of a childhood friend,
This note, is a contributive,
Dedication, to her.

Who, to this date, remains unknow to me,
I wish to remember her, As the Sleeping Princess,
That haunts my memories,
With her beauty.

Memorial thoughts, of a mourned time,
Travel through, the inner sanctums,
Of my memories.

Back to a time,
When my youth, was prime,
About ten I think, at the time.

A lovely princess, lie in state,
Dressed in white,
Sleeping,sleeping eternally,
More beautiful, then a June bride.

In the parlor, of her home,
Drowned with floral,
Arrangements,
Fit for royalty.

Waking her, like a princess,
Sleeping endlessly,
Tears flowing,
From sad family eyes.

Gleaned from life,
At her beauty's prime,
Way before her glorious time.

Excellent write...it is odd how memories affect us in such ways that we remember them always. Certain images, sights, sounds and smells contribute to that intensity. Well done William. Thank you for your kind comments on my cooperative effort with La Belle Rouge.

good write -- it evokes the customs of another time, and the timelessness of grieving.

a stunning image -- i can see how it would be imprinted on a ten year old...

well done!!
