I fell asleep
On the sofa
Have you ever?
I do that often.
At four AM, shaken gently
I was
From a dream
A dream it was
my wife, young again
Smiling, that lovely smile
I've known so well
soft music
Flowing through the radio
Endless love
She whispered lets dance.
Looking like the beautiful
swim suit model
She used to look like
A size three, I thought,
As I held her tiny waist
We slowly danced
Never removing my eyes
From the heavenly stars
Within her hypnotic ebony eyes
From her gentle embrace
She walked towards the door
Wanting to see
The sunrise.
I followed
Found myself at the porch
Without remembering
Opening any door
And my Beautiful wife
Not in sight
Realizing it was a dream
The Good Lord, Playing tricks
I said
For my 60th birthday
Thanks for remembering me, I said
As I slowly shuffled
Back to my bedroom.
Aching all over
I went back to bed
My Lovely wife was sleeping
With a heavenly smile
Upon her beautiful aging face
Her Eyes gently closed
I drifted back to sleep
Unaware she was gone
I left her in my dream.
