Night shrouds
Over the occupied city
The quietness over whelms
My exhausted senses.

I laid my head
On my folded hands
Once again

I, at a battle front

"Wake up soldier"
A sergeant yelled
"look sharp"
As he tossed me a can
Of cold C- ration, for breakfast.
