Felix and I are friends as well as poets who blend well with verse...we believe. This started as a poem I wrote "A Gentle Man...I Know You". Felix took this poem and gave "The Gentle Man" a voice. It made the poem complete. Please be frank in your critique as he and I may continue in this vein of verse.
Thank you all.

A compilation poem
by Susan K. de Vegter and Felix Perry

I know you.
I've seen you before
You sit alone at the Cafe du Monde or Starbucks and watch everyone.
You walk the stairs of the High Museum in Atlanta and watch others and your mouth turns------>up.

"Do you really know me?
Yes, I’ve seen you too.
Ah, but sight is not always what it seems, smiles can oftentimes deceive"

You're a gentle man.
I've seen you many places...
In the reflection of Virgin Records huge dispaly windows.
You watch from a vantage point and your smile broadens when you think I can't see you.
Your lip turns------>up.

"I am not gentle, I am broken
I search my reflection for a glimpse of the man that was
I watch the world from my hiding point, my smile becoming more forced,
the more I try to deceive,"

You are a gentle man.
I've noticed you in the halls of the vast museums, walking or leaning on the huge walls. You cock one leg over the other to act aloof but I see you.
I pass and your lip turns up.
My fragrance is a gift for you today.

"I am not gentle, I am broken
I walk the empty halls, I seek strength, and stand not aloof but alone
You pass and your Channel touches a memory, healing begins, desire awakes
I don’t want to deceive."

You're a gentle man.
I know your rage too.
You hide it well and your shy side is redeeming the boy inside of you.
You have always been near me watching and I've always caught your thoughts but would never let on.

Are you an angel I ask of you?

"An angel, no I walk broken amongst the living
Tis not rage but divine sadness I carry as a testament to lost love
You could heal me or hurt me, use or abuse me, take me or break me
I am tired of deceiving."

You are a gentle man and your passions rage inside of me just where you place them so tenderly.

I am warmed by your smile.

You are my gentle man.

"I was a broken man, but your lips have sealed my pain, taken away my hurt, renewed my smile to one of sincerity…hold my hand
I will be… your gentle man."

An interesting, conversational piece. The premis is quite preposterious, that a man could be healed of lonliness my thoughts from a woman he meets in a museum. Young infatuation is more likely, and... more desirable.
