And when nights dreams are finished
When sun comes breaking through
My lips will still be famished
For a loving taste of you
When dreaming time has passed it's prime
When sunlight hides it's goal
I raise my head from lonely bed
Reach for my kindred soul
Then with a smile he will return
In veiled attempt to shadow
The morning light that fades the night
As if nothing else much matters
I lie in comfort , earth bound...
As thoughts of midnight fly
Then he'll return to ease that burn
Then kiss awake my eyes .
The pic carries me back to the bayou...oh, this is gorgeous. And the passions expressed in beautiful verse just enhance the magic of dreamtime...sigh. Yes. Lovely, lovely poetry. BRAVA!
Streamers of moss and a blanket of fog seduces A Veiled Attempt in a sensuous sleepy-eye hollow...do you really want him to kiss your eyes awake...perhaps the dream should prevail, Susan...
Susan, this write is resplendent in its passages. It reminded me of the first verse of The Song of Solomon; 'Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth - For your love is better than wine.'
The accompanying photograph is equally lovely.

My, my, my, how you talk you southern sweet soul you. This is a poem that just reeks sensuousness and you do the southern version it better than anyone.
Oh Susan, this is beyond WOW...just dreamy, luscious poetry at it's very finest...worth many, many reads and saving with my most treasured ones. Where ever did you find tht incredible picture? I know it has to be Savannah/Tybee...but it takes me to the marshes of Glynn nearby and all the history that I love about St. Simon's Island....a place I used to visit yearly as a child and an adult and read in native Eugenia Price's historical fiction novels. It sets the tone for passion, mystery, and utter romance. Your poem is the plu-perfect compliment!

The rhythm and flow draws the reader along like a gentle stream. And when you step out of the stream you feel as if you're covered in gold dust.
You are the Southern Belle extraordinaire!
