Such an unlikely coupling these two frictional surfaces. You've taken the inroductory quote and turned it into a metaphoric sensation of the most passionate kind an dleaving this reader quite content...sparks and all...I can feel the heat. Awesome write Susan,

A fine write Belle. Flowed like honey in thought and meter. Love the formatting.

Also love the tension with the elements you chose. Metal wears down the stone - stone sharpens the metal - both can destroy each other - and both are birthed in the same geological womb.
