Poem Artwork

There's irony that words say much
When silence says much more
Eyes that search the other out
Say more when words ignore
The silent touch of a tender glance
From someone close in heart
Can reap rewards untold by words
That hide away the spark
A subtle glance from someone close
Can take the world away
When eyes can say a whole lot more
Than words could ever say.

An eternal truth you have recognized and displayed brilliantly through your poetic ability moves the memory and imagination to see what is and what has always been there. Fabulous piece Susan!

This takes me back to Romeo and Juliet and Shakespear's repeated use of the silent yet staggering messages of the eye in communion with the soul...and how that first contact can change lives forever.

Indeed. Very often it is gestures that speak louder than words. Dad's glare was often enough to keep us in line. A look from someone has a bio impact upon us, our body reacts with sensations: a subtle glance can make us smile, blush, coy,and also make us feel uneasy or troubled etc.
The power of the look, eh?

So true, this write leaves the reader thinking long and hard knowing that the writer has given us a valuable lesson to remember. There is such things as love at first sight and the eye is oftern the gateway to that love. Well done Susan.

wow, what a great interplay of word and sight, or rather the tenderness of a soul as it attempts to express what it sees and feels in the moment of shared emotion ...
