This is an older poem but needs airing anyway. Poetry never ages.

Thank you all for your dedication, time and wonderful reviews. I appreciate you all, one by one.

Poem Artwork

What can you do about being used?
The ache is unbearable
The feeling
Abused
Sticking it out but sensing the grind
Winding and streaming
Toking the line
It isn't physical
It's mental decline
Stepping on forward then falling behind
There's a door yonder
It's open for you
Just when you get there
It closes too
Love looks in
Teases the heart
Giving a beat
Then tearing it apart
Age taking family with a peeling death knoll
Angel of Mercy has you on hold
Kids all going in separate ways
You left alone to cross out the days
One and the other
It goes by so slow
Watching the creek
It ebbs and flows
Seeking the quiet when the heart wants to shout
Wanting and waiting for an easier way out
Sobbing in buckets
Pleasing the pain
Hiding in darkness
Tears power the rain
If justice wants mercy when morals recede
Then love can't grow in any of these
Life can be hell
Right now it's here
Tomorrow will come
So will the fear
It's trying to combat the focus that's stained
When love has been highjacked
When sadness complains
For lonely tired hearts
For women or men
Pain knows no gender
When it starts or it ends.

You are so right Susan, "pain knows no gender" it crosses all boundaries. A poor man or woman feels the same intense pain as do the wealthy ones. Well written with nice flow and rythm.

Oh Susan! Who cares how old this poem is, the message is so timeless and so true. This can happen to anyone at any time -- it still hurts just the same. Wonderfully done, my friend.

I never toked, but this is no joke, a life laid out for the reasoning. Savor it well, for you can then tell, that life always comes with seasoning.

Another lyrical yet real poem of love and life brought to you by my dear friend Susan...
I love it and the easy flow of the rhyming, it is not a bitter look at heartbreaks but a real look at life and the trials and tribulations that go along with it.

PS By the way if that is you in the picture...cute butt. (LOL sorry couldn't resist.)

Your words flow out, allowing the reader to believe this was true~ I know the feeling, but give it a few days and we realize, this too has passed...or we will drive ourselves into low immunity for mental disease to ravage our sense of soul...HA! Great penning...
Love and Peace~

I like how easy it was to follow your thought process here. One line made the way for the following, just a strea of consciousness.

Pain, especially when it is caused by others can be terrible. We must forget and forgive. Stoking the anger will increase the pain. Victor

As i was reading this i thought to myself, this poem fits for either gender, its so human and well written then i saw at the end you mentioned this very fact.....the poem read well, and led my thoughts to your conclusions.......that is fine writing, plus the fact that it speaks so clearly, showing the plain truth of relationships.......
