Let's say that things are different
Coming in the New Year
Let's say that life will blossom
Without all those tears
And what if war is obsolete
Will anybody care
Will harmony complete the mood
Of old warriors who always dared
Just what if there's a miracle
Complete with happy hearts
Full stomachs for those who're starving
What a GREAT way to start
Thinking on a full stomach
New life in tired old eyes
No longer words like "strife"
Or "hatred" and those "Lies"
Just what if this year is different
With everyone intune
It would justify the misery
It took to frown our moon
It's not that all far-fetched
It can happen all the same
If each and very nation
Denounced their own war games.
Well said indeed.
All it takes is one heart changed to change the tide of hearts.
And a wave of love can wash away the desert of pain.

Nice work Susan, our hopes for a world of peace and love sits within our dreams and yet it is as simple as your poem...to give up the need for greed and power and just live in harmony...
...without rhyme or reason...your words would say nothing...but with rhyme and reason...your words say everything...yes they do.
wonderful write Susan...and my hopes...
I love your mentality and how you think. There isn't a day that goes by that I think about those things you express. We need to keep the good message alive and forever.I love your poem.take care
"WAR!!! Good God - huh - What is it good for? Absolutely NUTHIN!" ... And so we have been singing almost since the heady days of post-war 1950s... And, along with first world affluence, war strategies and hunger for global power has continued to tread underfoot the heartbeat of the common man. Autocracies seem intent on suppressing their own peoples... democracies seem hellbent on suppressing everyone else's. But I still believe the dream and the voices of MLK and John Lennon are still as strong. It seems to be getting our democratically voted representatives to do what the people who put them into power want that's the problem. I greatly admire your tenacity in continue to shout it from the rooftops: GIVE PEACE A CHANCE! Great bolstering rhythm to this one, which gets us all into step... It's indeed a long, long way to Tipperary... Hope you're well. Kate xx
So true Dearest Susan but alas I fear it will not be in our time but if we keep the message alive and spread it to our children and grandchildren maybe someday your dream will become reality.

Reading your poem makes me realize that very few people seem to have and to defend such essential ideals today. It all seems quite natural to me and yet... what happened to this healthy way of thinking?

Ah, Susan, a nineteen sixtish mantra revived . . . Reality is much different . . . Human beings will ALWAYS be resentful of something someone else has or smarting at some supposed or real insult or knowing that "their" way of running countries is far better than others, therefore they must impose their brand of humanity on them . . . Beautiful sentiments you have peen here . . . I have done the same a time or two . . . But I know better . . . "Wars and rumors of war" . . .
In "A Touch of Your Presence" are words that would inspire, encourage and strengthen one's soul when faced with challenges and difficulties and to know the awesomeness of God's power.
All it takes is one heart changed to change the tide of hearts.
And a wave of love can wash away the desert of pain.
