Tell me how the grass smells after a summer rain?
Then tell me how the sun streams and eases a muscle pain?
Then speak of all the different songs a mockingbird can bring...
Then tell me if you can, in your step...is there a spring?
The leap that comes in a pace just when your true love beckons
The trapeze swing that clings to love...just where is it...you reckon?
You think it's lost in a place where sun is outside waiting ?
Or an office or a cubicle where work is always stretching
Hours upon hours making sense of money
What's the point when life is short...what's the matter honey?
Tell me what you're missing...living life this way...
You can't have many treasures if you pay and pay and pay
Take a look at country, a rusting John Deere Tractor
Smell new hay and take a nap...make laziness a factor
Add rosiness to your cheeks and life to all your tears
Work to live, not the opposite...Add detail to all your years
Keep it up you'll miss the boat...the meaning of your birth
You can make it stretch more today and double all your worth
Take it easy on your spirit...it too could use some sun
Come on out and play with me...add years to all your fun.
I love you and afterall ...and funny as it seems...
You can't possibly love living when you short change all your dreams
All these rich experiences are lost on those who forget to dream and play. Your quiet coaxing will surely make them change their minds and come out and play with you! Nice, summery poem with a lot of good sense.

As an old farm boy from Iowa I can lay back and smell the hay and pass each day as moment to reflect.. your poetry is beyond a dream it awakes me... thanks,
A good old-fashioned dose of homespun cellar wisdom, Susan...the half-pint Mason is full of the dandelion wine and the huge cleats on that John Deere Tractor wheel leaves acres of travels embedded in us, chock full of good country soil - us mountain girls aren't missing a thing...a wonderful bouquet of stop and smell the roses...a slower pace finds a wonderful verse for you, Susan...and thanks always for taking time out to stop in, I appreciate you...
Take it easy on your spirit...it too could use some sun
Come on out and play with me...add years to all your fun.

Ah, classic Susan L. de Vegter and I was ready for it. When you take on the affairs of the heart, my friend you never fail to push the envelope in the opposite direction most would push. For you and your emotional poetry it is always the simple vs. the complex. You see what is important, really important, as all earth-bound poets do. It was so good to read this tonight, I have missed you.
This is a book of free verse poetry that addresses the seven main tests in life and offers some sensible solutions to passing those tests with minimal discomfort.
