This poem was inspired by my Jewish friend and his love for peace and harmony. Today I want to share it with my peers here at Authors Den as this is the poem that gave me the title "Poet for Peace" in the World Anthology of Poetry published 2002. For Paul....

Worldwide
Shalom he said, "I'm Jewish..
If that matters to you."
I smiled in discomfort
What was I to do?
I've never thought of differences
In me and any others
I always figured peacefully
That we were colored brothers
"Shalom," I said "My new friend,"
It's nice to welcome you..."
Then hand in hand we walked away
Together...just us two.
It makes no difference who you are
Your wealth or nationality
Your eyes speak peace before your lips
Your heart comes through more rationally
If we listen to our hearts and not what news inputs
We'd find that love is worldwide
There's nothing more to it...
Let's make a circle for our hearts
Put our hate aside
To make the smiles more uniform
Then grow a heart...worldwide.
Oh, god...susan, yes! thank you and oh, please yes...Shalom! (to you for this caring, human piece and to Paul) .... truths we should embrace, somehow and oh...yes, 'let's make a circle for our hearts' just a beautiful, honest, tribute ofhope and peace, and love...
