It's great to be back in the bosom of love

Where comfort abounds in small ways

Then here comes along welcoming kisses

From the children down the way

Then the marshes begin to whisper her breeze

As the Herons display all their stealth

Just as the waters open with froth

To share her mint tea wealth

The fish are hopping, the songs of the birds

The chatter of some distant creature

Its part of the reason I love this here south

With all of her lovely features

Then a drive into town becomes a great treat

Just to circle the squares for a while

Divine are the riches when I return home

I am blessed as Savannah smiles

This graceful old lady smells of the moss

And magnolias with jasmine aside

She tugs at all senses with treasures galore

During a midnight ride

I'm deffinitely home as my senses run free

When the air comes alive with her passion

It's a birthright I own and nothing will change

It's the Rebel I wear here in fashion

I can go to the ends of this great earth

Flirt with nations far off for a while

Yet nothing can do it for me like home

Right here where Savannah smiles.
