Ode to Ireland

Written for my British Literature class using 8-7-8-7. The requested topic was to write about a dream or something you love. As per usual, my love for 'home' came to mind.

When first my eyes set upon the
rolling greens of the Isle,
and all its culture was revealed;
my heart had been beguiled.

Tender sweetness calling my name
as it sang to me from skies,
my affair with this other world
soon became my very guise.

Years rolled by and yet I'm loyal
for my future calls to me;
a life upon the emerald glass.
I belong across the sea.

 Reviews of "Ode to Ireland"

Yeah, I have had a desire to go to Ireland where comes my family's namesake and several of my ancestors on both sides. Wish I could speak with conviction as Katy has. At any rate, the only line that sticks out to me is the first as it ended in "the." I know at this point months later my review is way past due but to me, for the style of poem this is, ending in the detracts from it. Otherwise, I see well written piece with a wonderful ending. J.

Brittany,
Lovely poem. You write great "home assignments". Why don't you give a harsh review on my poem on Irish -- 'I rish Irish'.

Thanks.
