Pieces Shattered

Stumbling, no longer falling

and there seems to be no rope.

Nothing is catching the fall

as was promised and I'd hoped.

You seem so caught up in you;

something we share in common

but this seems to be the bullet

and our one biggest problem.

Consumption of my every breath

and robbery of my soul.

You've taken everything left of me

and given me no role.

You captivate me unexpectedly

but complicate things all the same.

I hadn't anticipated having to beg

for something so mundane.

Turned my world upside down

and left me in pieces shattered.

Show concern when I'm crying,

as if these things mattered.

The little things go undone

and the bigger ones, unsaid.

You leave me crying all alone

and each day I wake to dread.

Your knife in me is a slow death

but it is the leash I can't detach,

everyday new red tears pour

the same tears you promised to catch.

Promises fade into momentary glory

and I've turned into a distraction

rather than a life-long love;

just a momentary attraction.

Pounding thoughts that suffocate me

leaving me breathless at my seams

I am the doll you drag around

when convenient for your means.

Once was loved and taken care of

now a raggedy, pieces shattered.

Treated like an invalid.

To you I once mattered.

it'd unfortunate when a relationship has developed into a self-centered denial of mutual respect ...

Excellent piece, the rythm is awesome and you weave some great lines in this one. There isn't anything else I can contribute as the piece is just great. J.

Remove the knife, exit the suffocating environment, and keep stumbling forward until you know you're in a safer zone.

Your heart rings thru this,
prayerfully,
