The dulcet lullaby whispered in my ear
warmly embraces me in distress,
and the warmth of his song on my skin
forgives me for what I confess.
Watching his eyes as they trace me
and listening to him sweetly serenade,
leaves me with no wonder of another.
He has become the reason I was made.
Midnight sky shadows his figure
and the moonlight melts on his skin,
but I can't tear my eyes from his.
He has become my hallowed sin.
Beauty surrounds us oustide and in
but he is a midnight masterpiece.
Everything I once feared, expunged,
as he waltzes me into peace.
Gently he whispers his song to me
pouring forth desires for time
and it is then I hear the angels sing
that this angel was meant to be mine.
His song is finished as dawn is wakened,
but its his kiss that has saved
my soul from numbing,
my heart from falling.
To sweet dreams I am enslaved.
Morning's light pries me awake
and I do so in longing bittersweetly.
Sweet dreams have given hope
that dreams are fulfilled completely.
So I wake in high hopes
and the bar won't lower, but I'm afraid
that no lucky lover will be a match!
To sweet dreams I am enslaved.
This is such a wonderfully sensual and romantic write. Sometimes when posting a review it is difficult to come up with words that exactly describe the way a poem makes one feel. I have been pondering this in relation to your poem for a few minutes because this poem is simply not your ordinary run-of-the-mill love poem. It has a delicacy to it, a fragrant nuance that lingers long after the last line has been read. An achievement. I applaud you.

INCREDIBLE! You, my dear, are maturing beautifully, in your poetic mastery! Brittany, glad to see you posting again. Oh, this poem is SO outstandingly beautiful! -- Jeff
Mary Angela Nangini's poems celebrate the richness of life and love. From the city to cottage-country and the roads in between, Nangini explores the changing seasons of her varied region. (This book will soon be reprinted in hard cover.)
If you tend to believe romantic, passionate, masculine poetry is a thing of past eras, read "She Intrigues Me," and be swept away in the beautiful craft of a contemporary poet of love.
