Marriage
Marriage
Is more than
The first look,
The first radiating smile,
The first funny feeling,
The first kiss,
The first steps taken together,
In an alley of flowers,
To listen to two hearts
Beating in unison.
Is more than
The union of two families,
In joy,
Full of good wishes,
Nice feelings,
Kindness,
Presents,
For the future weds.
Is more than
The joy of the engagement,
The deadline for the wedding,
The wish to speed up things,
The moving ceremony,
The reception delight,
The honeymoon anticipation,
And its vivid souvenirs.
Is above all
A mutual adaptation,
A going side by side,
Hand in hand,
Towards a communal life,
A common goal,
Which keeps unfolding
Its nature
And purpose,
Day by day.
Is above all
A mutual acceptance,
Not for what you ought to be,
But for striving
To be better and better;
For what you really are:
Flesh and blood beings,
*Falling angels
*Who remember Heaven.
Is above all
A harmonious commitment
That leads to a sense of
Belonging,
Communion,
Affinity,
All that makes two old couples
Believe they have conquered
The contingencies of life,
Side by side,
Hand in hand.
