I’M STILL LEARNING – Simple poetry
Other poets often times write
some truly amazing lines,
which I read and then re-read
trying to follow their minds.
There have been times aplenty
I’ve read these wonderful words.
For me, the meanings of which,
were totally obscured.
I’m of the firm belief
I should make my poetry rhyme.
Oh, maybe not every verse,
but nearly all the time.
Yet, most of my poems are
more than just little rhymes.
Quite often hidden meanings
are contained within my lines
Though my verses are often simple,
for me, the words have much meaning
and I’m hoping they’ll convey
the direction in which I’m leaning.
There is usually a message,
occasional humor at the very least.
If that were not the case,
long ago I would have ceased.
And, it’s not merely a matter
of the words all coming together,
often times I’ll be trying
to make people feel a little better.
I know there’s a time and place
for all that high brow writing,
but it’s much simpler expression
for which my words are fighting.
