I've recently put out my second book. This poem attempts to concisely convey the various subjects I have addressed in the two books through my poems and stories. That’s an impossible task, in such a brief space, but I’m very pleased with the results.
*MY MESSAGE* My books contain some interesting works, but mostly they’re not serious. Some are written from the heart, but most are just for the curious. Some talk about family, while others are about being alone. Some discuss being on the move and others are about coming home. Some will bring back memories, others are thought provoking. One discusses the battle you wage when finally, you quit smoking. Some will extend sympathies, others are about celebrations. There’s a poem here to deal with it no matter what the situation. Some discuss fatal illness, some are about rebirth. One is about forgiveness, one’s about saving mother earth. There are some that discuss war and problems facing our nation. In one I took my stand on illegal immigration. I’ve written about Daddy’s lessons and about learning to get along. There are a couple that I wrote as good ol’ country songs. I’ve written about heartbreak and a couple about drinking booze. We may all have an opinion, but we haven’t all walked in those shoes. I’ve written about friends who’ve died and of memories that never will, of meeting my new sweetheart and the magic of a little blue pill. I’ve written of conflicted feelings and of sharing that first kiss, Of being over come by sadness which eventually became new bliss. My writings share my feelings, no matter what the mood. For some I’ve been applauded, for other’s, possibly booed. It’s a long and winding road this old body has traversed. Each day a new adventure, perhaps I should have rehearsed. Although I’m on the downhill side and definitely gaining speed, my soul mate now travels with me and she answers my every need. I’ve finally turned that page of which I’ve spoken in my rhymes My life now feels fulfilled.
