DOING GOOD
There was a line on “LAW AND ORDER”
I never fully understood.
“Sometimes the “good” you do
doesn’t do you any good.”
To me it means, doing good
doesn’t always pay a dividend.
Sometimes we do good,
just to help out a friend.
But, if we help out a friend,
at least in my mind,
the dividend’s been paid
just by being kind.
Doing “good” shouldn’t have a price tag.
You don’t do it for a specific reason.
You should “do good” all the time.
There’s no CLOSED “do good” season.
They don’t issue you a license,
there is no permit required,
but people who do lots of “good”
have reason to be admired.
Good will overcome evil,
it should be part of our DNA.
Everyone should have a goal
to do something really good today.
