Broken Brain

Broken Brain is a little ditty that I wrote one evening when I was sitting at my computer “Brain Dead” or with a “Brain Fart.” I just couldn’t come up with anything worthwhile to write. So, I started to write about that and this was the result. Not one of my “very best,”

BROKEN BRAIN

I haven’t written anything new
in what seems to me, like ages.
I sit down with good intentions,
resulting only in more blank pages.

I think my brain is broke,
or maybe it just stopped working.
My thoughts are all blurred images
not fully formed, but lurking.

Though I’m near the end of my journey
I’m still a long ways from dead.
There are messages I wish to share,
things yet remaining to be said,

So please bear with me friends,
your patience I request.
Those which don’t come easy
are often among our very best.

If I don’t come up with new thoughts,
I still have some old ones lying around.
Eventually I’ll write again,
though likely, it won’t be profound,

New is relative. Profound is in the eye of the beholder. Brain farts begin with beer and a pepperoni pizza, it's up to you to relieve them. Patrick

Not to worry, Richard....your experience is pretty common. Ideas come to my head fast and furious and then when I go to put them down, "Where did they all go?"

Nothing wrong with your brain, Richard,
when you can deliver work of this quality.

I think we all go through times of poetic pause but it usually ends up being a blessing in disguise as our work usually comes to us in a flash when we least expect it.

Richard, as long as you continue to write and rhyme like this,
your brain ain't broke. There's more profundity in these lines
than you may think. -gene.

Richard,

Every writer goes through that, and sometimes writing about it brings the muse back! I think this is so in your case. Great poem.
