REFLECTION
Why do we let them control
the direction our lives take?
Why do we let them complicate
the decisions we all make?
Mirrors aren’t always truthful,
they only reflect what they are shown.
They can’t see your heart,
nor can they tell how big it’s grown.
They know not, what’s on your mind,
can’t begin to reflect your soul,
They know nothing about your efforts,
have no knowledge of your goals.
What is reflected by our mirrors
is only the outer layer,
but your mirror cannot reflect
if you are, or are not a “player.”
Our lives should be about more
than this layer of outer skin,
the way we wear our hair,
or the clothes that we’re seen in.
Mirrors can’t see what’s behind you,
what’s above, or what’s below.
The only thing your mirror reflects
is the you you’re willing to show.

I keep telling my nagging spouse the very same thing,
But she insists, that how I look, is a reflection of her;
She just cannot understand how I'm content to look like I look,
Disheveled Hair, Three Day Beard, No Bath, Covered in Dog & Cat Fur!
