MIDDLE GROUND
You daydream about sailing,
I’d rather go see a play.
You’d prefer to be on the go,
when I’d much rather stay.
We need to find a middle ground
where we can co-exist,
share our lives together
with neither getting pissed.
Just as one man’s junk
can be another’s treasure,
so is one man’s daydream
often another’s displeasure.
You prefer somewhere on the water
using your global positioning.
I’m far too into my creature comforts
to leave my air conditioning.
Daydreams and nightmares
are matters of the mind,
but when reality comes acallin’
they’re often left behind.
Dream a little dream,
smoke a little smoke,
write a few more lines,
tell a couple nasty jokes.
Life is rushing by us
But that’s beyond our control
Yet, writing remains our passion
it seems to own our soul.
We seek a happy medium,
something in the middle.
One day we’ll figure it out,
but for now it’s still a riddle.
