Never been an artist, never been on tour, but as an observer and a former teenage “wannabe” I can imagine that these words don’t fall too far from the way it too often turns out to be.
Days of deja vu, Richard. Ah, the original thrill of this lifestyle, so soon turned into a nightmare of unbelievable proportions. The kicks from the adoration of the groupies, the relatively lucrative rewards, the thrill of travel and sightseeing! The resulting drowning in a quagmire of mindless euphoria! The loss of untold numbers of talented performers! An experience that I lived long ago with lingering regrets. A nice portrayal, Richard. Masterful rhyme and rhythm! Thanks for reminding a kindred soul~`~`~`~ Just Jim
Love it Dick, when my second book came out, Chapters asked me to do a book tour of all their stores here in Nova Scotia, and excitedly I jumped at the chance. However they did not tell me they only covered milaage so meals, hotels etc were out of my pocket....the glow wore off pretty soon. LOL

Yeah, kinda reminds me of the song, "We're an American Band," put out by America and Grand Funk Railroad.
We're an American band
We're an American band
We're comin' to your town
We'll help you party it down
We're an American band
Yep, I do imagine it does get to where you don't even recognize know who you are anymore. It makes me kinda why some bands went berserk and destroyed a few hotel rooms.

Good one, Richard. Some years back Ronnie McDowell played a concert in our home town. After the show, we had a chance to speak with his drummer. I asked him how he liked doing what he did. He told me at first it was exciting, but eventually it got to be just a job. I can't identify with this type work, but I would think it would get old living out of suitcase.

Questions, unquestioned discoveries, and answers in parable and rhyme…. This collection records a journey starting with a 1960s retrospective and the first man on the moon, moving to a new millennium welcomed in with a terrorist spin, family crises,
Your talent leaves me in awe. I can feel every line. Outstanding!
