Today’s Dick-idiom concerns progress. As with some of the others, it was originally part of a longer poem.
*“DICK-IDIOM #73”* *LOOKING BACK* PROGRESS “In the short time since the birth of my mother… we’ve gone from the horse-N-buggy, to the moon and then beyond. From Ma Bell's Yellow Pages to Yellowbook.com. From the old ‘two holer’ to automatic flushing, standing side by side to pee, no one even blushing. We’ve traveled faster than sound, we now know smoking causes cancer. AIDS? TB? HEPATITIS? One day we’ll find the answers. Some lifetimes last for many years though many are more concise. Interesting concept yet if I had it to do over I'm not sure what I'd do. Just pressing the rewind button to get back to one of those little forks in our road of life to change paths sounds great but who is to say that it would be better. Who knows, it might be the short straw??? Patrick
