Time

Originally a portion of an earlier poem, (SHIFTING SANDS) the first few of these verses seemed to take on a life of their own. As a result, I felt the need to let them,,,,, breathe,,,, on their own by separating them from their original home and adding a few more verses. I must say, I feel much more satisfaction with this effort than with the original concept.

TIME
 
Time is not the enemy,
but it’s often not a friend,
although time is often cited
as the cure, your heart to mend.
 
Time is very precious,
but you can’t save it for a rainy day.
At times we’ve all had dreams
that time has stolen away.
 
Time is often generous
with the wisdom it will share,
time can be our tutor,
teaching us to care,
 
Time isn’t free
but it certainly can’t be bought,
cause you just can’t put a price
on the lessons time has taught.
 
Time creates opportunities,
time can take them away,
time can be the culprit,
or time can save the day.

Time is never stationary,
time keeps moving on.
Time can never stay,
it’s here and then it’s gone.
 
When our time is running out
it cuts us like a knife,
yet time is but a measure
used to quantify our life.
 
Time waits for no man,
time to sing your final song,
time to mend your fences,
then time to move along,
 
TIMES UP!!!

The only piece of time a man can control is the moment you live in. Yesterday is gone, tomorrow hasn't yet come. And yet better not try hold on to that moment too closely, or it will silde out of yoyhr handfsd like wet sdoap.

Time is certainly fickle to say the least. Can't predict it, can't bargain with it, can't cheat it, can't plead with it.
