Depended upon someone, but the master is gone. The cage is locked tight, poor puppy will be left in the cage almost all night. Freedom is so precious, almost as good as food delicious.
The little pup knows this, once out he'll enjoy the bliss. Running and displaying, eating without delaying. He'll play until he tires, or until his freedom expires.
Humans take so much for granted, until life flips slanted. In their minds they live cage, haboring hate and so much rage. The little pup knows joy, humans waste time and foolishly destroy.
I really like this metaphor; I like the whole poem. Actually, the only suggestion I have is for the spelling of "cage" in "In their minds they live cage". I think you meant "caged."
Rufuz has his own cage, this 34 foot motorhome, but HE still owns it, not I...I try never to actually use a cage on him, though the groomers do use one, can't actually blame them...Rufuz runs free, no leash for a walk, unless we are near a place he can get hurt...I cannot have that as you well know...you have a wonderful perspective as always, Grady, but the poor puppy who stays in a small space all day I feel sorry for...Ed
